Forests and the Choices We Make- Episode 1: Mt. St. Helens

On Labor Day, 2020, Oregon witnessed the start of the most destructive wildfire season in recent history, burning nearly one million acres across public and private forest lands in less than a week. Now that the smoke has cleared, our forest sector is pivoting its focus to the future – restoration and regeneration of Oregon’s forests – a feat that will likely take years and require over 100 million tree seedlings.

Today we launch a new series with Rick Dancer and Oregon Forest and Industries Council that looks at choices being made that will impact these lands for generations to come. We’ll start by looking back at history and the decisions we make to actively restore our forests or simply let mother nature take its course.
